My line up killed me this week

I took my own advice and benched A.P. in favor of Steven Jackson. My line up was

QB Peyton Manning
WR Reggie Wayne and Roddy White
RB Arian Foster and Steven Jackson
TE Vernon Davis
Flex Micheal Turner
K Shane Graham
Def Dallas (against Grossman)

with this all star line up I managed a lousy 85 points and am now playin for 3rd place.. BOO!
Another season behind me, I cant believe it ends on this note. I worked all season trading and playing the waiver wire to develop my perfect roster and fell short. I cant wait for next season.

Thanks alot Adrian Peterson

So.. you drafted A.P. probably 2nd overall and hances are he took you to the playoffs, why would you bench him right? well if you read my first blog this month I told you to sit the ailing runner in favor of a few waiver wire pick ups. Although the waiver options I suggested did not live up to the potential I expected they certainly did better than Adrian Peterson this week who went all the way down to the wire of a monday night game and decided it was a no go. this left several fantasy owners scrambling for another option that wasnt there. The lesson from this is simple, no matter who the player is, always have a back up plan if they are injured or there is any question to there availability. Never let yourself wait until last game of the week to see if that questionable tag will be good to go.
If by some starnge chance you were able to advance in the playoffs, be safe with Purple Jesus going forward as the vikes are beat up and have nothing left to play for, and it is not worth it to the team to hurt him any further, so his productivity will suffer as a result

Tim Teebow Takes his first NFL start

Americ's favorite sun Tim Teebow takes the field today in his first NFL career start over the ailing Kyle Orton. It will not be an easy day as the Raiders rank 6th in the nfl in pass D. Teebow has taken a few goalline snaps over this season but now has the chance he can be a full time NFL QB. I wouldnt put him in my fantasy line up (even if my QB were Orton) there are better options available. Jon Kitna, JoshFreeman, David Garrad are all worth a start this week.

Micheal Vick wants a dog

I read a fellow bloggers article that Micheal Vick hopes to own a dog someday. In my opinion I feel Micheal Vick has made an inspirational comeback, and deserves the chance to prove to the world he's truly changed. I think a huge factor in his would be the type of dog he were to select, for instance any type of pitt bull, rottweiller, doberman etc.. would all be unacceptable choices for the rebounding QB. If he were to select a small dog and have check ups to the dog well being, I personally think he would excel and surprise the public, surely his dog fighting days are bhind him.

Mcnabb benched, Grossman to start

Coach Shanahan is benching Mcnabb this week in favor of Rex Grossman. Rex Grossman who has 36 interceptions to 33 career TD's hasnt had a starting job since leading the Bears to the super bowl in 2006. ( or should we say the Bears led him to the super bowl in 2006) This move comes just a short month after Mcnabb signs his 5 year contract extension. Shanahan was quoted saying he doesnt know what the future holds for the pro bowl veteran QB, and couldnt asnwer rather or not Mcnabb would even be back next season. He went on to say he needed to evaluate the talent he has at the QB position and can not do that with Mcnabb starting. What does this mean for fantasy owners.. bench Mcnabb (obviously) stay away from all the redskin receivers, and dot even think of starting Rex Grossman. This does increase the value of both Ryan Torain and the Dallas defense so get em in your line up.

Is it time to bench the 49ers

Vernon Davis, Frank Gore, Micheal Crabtree, Brian Westbrook, all former viable fantasy options at the beginning of the season, however  with this year coming to a close and no shot at playoffs, are any of these guys worth a spot on your roster? Frank Gore out for the season and a timeshare between Westbrook and Dixon the 49ers backfield has become all but obsolete. With inconsistent passing attack and a sub par rushing attack the 49ers find themselves serving yet another dismal season. None of the 49ers recieving core seems like a viable fantasy option and the last gleam of hope TE Vernon Davis dropping a pathetic 4 yrd performance I think its safe to cut ties with the sinking ship that is the San Fransico 49ers. Vernon Davis will continue to see be a top option on most fantasy boards based on his shear talent, however the QB play is just too inconsistent. If your searching for a good replacement rookie TE Rob Gronkowski has seen his fair share of looks from ace QB Tom Brady and is available in 60% of leagues. Its tough to cut ties with marquis players but in a sudden death elimination of the playoffs I would put my money on someone a little more safe than any of the 49ers.
Lets hope the 49ers can fix some of these woes over the off season and get back to the caliber of play we know they are capable of.

Just ask!!

Do you have a start sit quandry? Sometimes its good to get a second opinion. Post your questions here and I will answer as many as possible before line ups lock sunday morning.

If Cassel sits....Bowe's a bust

After bein one of the leagues worst-best pass catchers Dwayne Bowe finally stepped up to his potential as an elite WR option under the strong arm of Matt Cassell. This season Cassel and Bowe have connected for 888 yrds and a league leading 14 TD's, however after an emergency appendectomy on Dec. 8th, cassel was forced to miss the game last week against the San Diego Chargers causing Bowe to give a dismal 1 catch 3 yard performance. These numbers are unacceptable for a starter and especially in playoff weeks.
Without Matt Cassell I dub Dwayne Bowe the dud of the week even against a mediocre Rams team.
Pay close attention to Cassells staus throughout the week before you lock your line up for a certain defeat.

Rodgers still not practicing.. Dont panic.. Good QB's still available

If you drafted Rodgers chances are your in the playoffs. If you started Rodegers this past week and your still in the playoffs then my hat goes off to you and your team for bailing you out of a dissapointing injury to your top scorer. Since you found yourself in this situation your probably scrambling for a passer to help seal your fantasy title. The top Waiver options this week are Jon Kitna, Josh Freeman, Sam Bradford, or even Carson Palmer against a suspect Browns Passin Defense. My top option would be to target Kitna, at the helm of a highpowered passing attack against a division rival he's sure to get you 18 point or better. You wont be able to replace Rodgers production, but atleast you'll give yourself a decent shot at the title with a last minute waiver wire pick up.

Is Westbrook really back?

I have noticed a huge increase in adds for Brian Westbrook after his 17 point performance last week.
Be extremely careful before starting Westbrook this week against a stout San Diego D-fense that held Thomas Jones and Jamal Charles to under 50 yards. Westbrook will be in a timeshare situation this week, and his touches have rapidly declined over the last 2 weeks in Favor of Anthony Dixon.
Westbrook saw 24 carries just 3 weeks ago, since then has seen the rock only 18 times over the last 2 games. Take away a 60+ yard TD catch and Westbrook is sitting on a combined 5 points over the last 2 games. He still has that ol' Westbrook burst and with a solid workload can still produce decent numbers, however it is the playoffs and do you really want to risk your season on an aging veteran with a limited workload? Check the waiver wire there are better options available.

BENCH PETERSON THIS WEEK OR SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCE

Well here we are week 15! and if your reading this congratulations on making it this far into the playoffs.
This week Im going to say something I never thought I'd say... BENCH ADRIAN PETERSON.. wow
its was as hard to type as it is to say. I have always been a stick with your studs type player, and that formula has always worked for me. However this week.. bein a sudden death playoff match, do you really want to risk it? I don't. Peterson is arguably the leagues best runner, but even the best runner has a hard time climbing the mountain he's up against. first off, he's banged up with a slight sprain in his ankle and knee bruise, secondly he's going up against a stout Bears defense with either a banged up senior or a third string passer.
This means the bears are going to stack the box to stop the only wounded weapon the Vikes have left.
Thirdly, as if the Vikes didnt have enough problems their home field advantage has been crushed as their stadium was unable to hold up the massive snow pile last week. and the final reason to bench Peterson.. weather.. the Viking Bears game will be played in near sub-zero temperatures and thick snowy conditions.
Add this to a meager performance last week against the Giants at Ford field, where he racked up a whopping 2.4 point performance and you have a molotov cocktail of disaster... I assure you there are better options for this week. If your are thin at the RB position, go scoop up either Tim Hightower or Mike Goodson ( who has a score in three straight games) and both backs are owned in less than 50% of leagues.
